The Family (2013)
An Italian/American mob family are relocated to Normandy, France after testifying against the mob where they find it difficult to forget their 'old habit's', meanwhile the mob are hunting them down to seek revenge...
On paper you really think this should be a winner, De Niro and Michelle Pfeiffer as Mom and Dad, perfectly cast, it's your fish out of water tale, but sadly it's riddled with Hollywood cliches, the French don't sell peanut butter (sac re bleu!) they hate all Americans and the whole town is 20 years behind time (check out the Police pc monitors). The mobsters are ridiculous charactures from a bygone age, big hats, scars and wrinkled faces etc, and we even get a scene where De Niros character introduces his favourite film to the local film club, yep, it's 'Good Fellas', oh my aching sides.
Largely unexciting, rarely funny, mostly average.
