The Lego Movie (2014)

A movie tie in with a children's toy? Doesn't sound like a healthy movie recipe does it, but directors Phil Lord ('21 Jump Street') and Christopher Miller have created one of the most intelligent, smartest, and funniest 'kids' movie for some time.Emmett is your average Lego guy, hard working, likes everybody, thinks everybody likes him, his life is changed when he is mistaken as an 'extraordinary guy' and the key to saving the Lego world from the evil tyrant President Business.

The movies pretty much kicks off at a break neck pace and never flags with it's incredibly sharp and witty script, full of gags that both kids and adults (loved the voice activated computer OS) will appreciate. The Lego 'worlds' are beautifully recreated, the movie bursting with great characters, Metal Beard, Donald Trump, sorry President Business (voiced brilliantly by Will Farrell) ,stealing the show though has to be Batman ("Darkness...no Parents..") complete with  a brilliant Christian Bale impersonation from Will Arnett, and just when you think things can't get any more bonkers, The Millennium Falcon turns up with Han Solo and Chewie et all!!

Never has a film that you would think was just a 90 minute product advertisement deserved to be viewed by young and old, Lego stimulates children's imagination and this is what is at the heart of this wonderful movie ("Build things that only you can build").

An utter joy.
