"Dark tourism - the act of travelling with the intent to visit places of tragedy or disaster."
Jim Tahana (Michael Cudlitz) seems like an ordinary guy, working the night shift as a security guard, keeping himself to himself. Once a year he spends his vacation as a 'dark tourist', this year he visits New Orleans, where back in the 1930's Carl Marznap went on a murder spree, but this vacation reveals more to Jim's (disturbed) personality, his twisted sexual impulses, memories of a painful childhood, all of which threaten his struggle with reality.
Brooding, disturbing and chilling are words to describe this dark drama, great performance from Cudlitz, his portrayal of Jim is perfect, a man who slowly over the films (relatively short) running time starts to show signs of a dangerous mental breakdown. The film's subject is grim, the finale very brutal,shocking and graphic, but don't let that put you off this little known movie.
