'The Frozen Ground' is based on the true event's in the early 1980's, Alaskan State Trooper Jack Halcombe sets out to end the murderous rampage of serial killer Robert Hansen (chillingly played by John Cusack), a killer who has gone 'un-noticed' for 13 years and has killed in the region of 17 to 21 women.
Both Cage and Cusack are excellent, Cage, obsessed at nailing Hansen for crimes he knows he committed, he just needs one piece of evidence and the hope that his prime witness, 17 year old Cindy (again, another great performance from Vanessa Hudgens) the only girl to escape from the killer, will be brave enough to testify.
The cold, wet dark climate of Alaska adds to the grimness of the subject matter, an excellent drama, not a shoot out or car chase in sight, just a fascinating true story played out by three great leads, in a superior adult movie.
