Byzantium

Vampire movies eh, just why do they tend to be so bloody miserable, pretentious and full of angst, only a few really that can be claimed to be great horror movies especially in the past two decades, only ground breakers such as 'Near Dark' and 'Let The Right One In' spring to mind.

Byzantium is no different, two modern day vampires seek refuge in a small coastal town, Gemma Arterton plays Clara, a vampire who would be at home in an episode of 'Eastenders', and Eleanor, played by the excellent Saoirse Ronan. The first two thirds of this movie are painfully dull (this and Oblivion in the same week!!). It does stir into life a little in the final third, but sadly I nodded off by then, and had to re-watch the final 10 minutes the next day!

Pompous, arty farty twaddle for 'Twilight' fans.
