'The Bling Ring' is based on the actual events over a year in 2008/2009 when a group of seven teenagers and young people from L.A (known as the Hollywood Hills Burglar Bunch) burgled the houses of celebrities such as Paris Hilton, Orlando Bloom and Lindsay Lohan, resulting in a haul in excess of $3M.
An interesting story for sure, something though that director Sophia Coppola makes a complete hash of. Bunch of good looking girls, and a geek, rob houses, party, take drugs, post pictures on facebook, rob a house....repeat....Every single character is loathsome and as shallow as the entire movie, you don't care about them, you don't care about their 'victims' (try locking the door folks). Emma Watson's hair looks nice and she's got a pretty smile, that's about the only positive thing I can think about this movie!!
