Giant monsters smashing up City's, massive Robots built to defend the Earth, directed by Guillermo Del Toro, this is one movie I'd really been looking forward to, Del Toro goes Summer blockbuster!!!
Oh dear.
The first hour you have to contend with soap opera style dialogue from the utterly vile clichéd cast of characters, the hard men (one Yank, one Aussie), angry Black military authority man, attractive female eye candy, and the two most annoying characters committed to celluloid since Jar Jar Binks, a hysterically over the top scientist and a maths professor outcast from Dr Strangelove.
The action is sterile and tedious, the whole movie nothing more than Team America Starship Transformers with a chest beating rousing speech straight from the Independence Day script thrown in so all the boxes are ticked.
Crash, bang codswallop!
