The Paperboy (2012)

1960's sweaty Florida, a reporter and writer arrive in a small town to investigate whether a violent 'swamp dweller' Hillary Van Wetter was framed for the murder of a corrupt Sheriff.

'The Paperboy' is a 'trashy' sweaty film full of trashy sweaty characters, John Cusack as Van Wetter is greasier than a roadside chippy, lank hair, spotty, greasy sweaty complexion, a wild eyed lump of Southern racist white trash.Nicole Kidman excels as his trashy slutty penpal lover, a "40 year old oversexed Barbi Doll", Mathew McConnaughey as reporter Ward Jansen is all Southern drawl with a penchant for twisted sexual encounters whilst not interviewing cons.

Director Lee Daniels previous work was the astonishing  "Precious", and whilst not reaching the heights of that work this is still a fine slice of gritty, sleazy drama with a vicious brutal finale.
